Sega Blast City

The Sega Blast City arcade cabinet is a sit‑down “candy cab” designed as a versatile high‑resolution successor to the Astro City, popular for both arcade and home use.

Display: 29‑inch Nanao tri‑sync CRT monitor supporting 15/24/31 kHz video, allowing everything from classic low‑res JAMMA boards up to VGA‑class systems and PCs; the tube is rotatable for horizontal or vertical games (manual rotation, no built‑in rotate mech).

Inputs: Typically ships as a 2‑player, 6‑button fighting layout with JAMMA or JVS wiring and Sega’s standard control panel, and many units include Sega I/O to support Model 3, Naomi and modern JVS boards alongside older JAMMA hardware.

Build: Sit‑down cabinet measuring about 760 mm wide x 939 mm deep x 1643 mm high and weighing roughly 100 kg, with a molded plastic shell over a steel frame, lockable access panels and casters so it can be moved and positioned relatively easily for its size.

Compatibility: Supports Sega Model 3 and later platforms via JAMMA/JVS, and is widely used today with Naomi, Atomiswave, consoles and PCs thanks to its tri‑sync monitor and roomy interior for extra hardware or scaler boards.

Lighting and Features: Backlit marquee (with optional versus kit displays), stereo speakers above the screen, and swappable control panels; many owners upgrade buttons/joysticks or add VGA inputs to make the Blast City a flexible all‑rounder for both retro and higher‑res titles.
